Dear Lord, I’m in a pickle
and I hope you’ll see me clear.
You don’t need to remind me
that I did this thing last year.
I confess it’s all my fault,
(this mess of which I spoke);
but all my bills are due
and I am completely broke.
Father, I will promise,
(may lightning leave me stunned)
I won’t again, no NEVER,
pre-spend my tax refund!
