The Chickadee

THE CHICKADEE

My daily joy’s a chickadee,
decked out in ebon cap.
He lands upon my window sill
and summons with a tap.

I fill my hand with tiny seeds,
extend it toward his perch.
Then, dancing on my fingertips,
he goes about his search.

No matter that he comes each day
in sun or gentle shower
My breath still catches in my throat;
his weakness is his power.

I know, by faith, the Lord above
gives strength when I am calm
and I, in trust, like this small bird
rest in my Father’s palm.

I love this! Such a tiny creature and God watches over it so how much more does he watch over us. It is our joy that bobs and flutters about as we learn to trust in the one who cares for us. Such a beautiful sweet piece, but then again I am a sucker for nature pieces, especially ones that glorify God. You are amazing at your descriptions.

I love this, Patricia. I am originally from Maine, and the Black Capped Chickadee is the Maine State Bird. They are a sweet little bird. I enjoyed this very much ... very well written!
