Self esteem – the books and self-help gurus tout this as the cure for all that ails us.
If we just loved and valued ourselves more, all would be better.

But I disagree. We don’t need more self-esteem, we need more God-esteem.

When we honor and treasure the one that is the source of all life, then our problems and the ills of the world take on a whole new perspective.

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness…. And all these things will be added unto you” – it does not say to add all things to yourself (better job, better home, better spouse, more, more, more) and you will be satisfied. No, instead the truth of the Word beckons us back to the origin: God and His righteousness.

Get this concept in perspective and your life will become fuller and richer as you delight in knowing and serving Him. Put Him first on your speed-dial. Let His be the first opinion you seek about a matter, and the last voice you hear before you go to bed. Life will make a whole lot more sense if you do.
