Marriage

Since my childhood, I've desired to be a wife;
One to make a difference in some man's life
By giving my love so faithful and so true
In every word I say and everything that I do.
When I was asked to be the one he'd have and hold,
I dreamed of the two of us growing old
Together sacrificing to make our marriage sacred,
But never did I think this kind of life would bring so much hatred
For a person whom I once loved so dear;
The one I was trusting to soothe my doubts and calm my fears.
I was faithful in every aspect of my life,
But my faithfulness seemed to be repaid with pain and strife.
He committed adultery time and time again,
Always promising he'd bring his treacherous ways to an end.
I was determined to fulfill the vow I had made,
But it was difficult because my love began to fade
Away, opening the door for disappointment and regret,
In realizing he wasn't the one whom I'd originally met.
I sought God for help to hold on and be strong,
And He gave me what I needed to carry on.
God sought His own vengeance on this man of many lies and deceit,
And He began to show me that for all he had sown, he'd surely reap.
His every effort was followed by failure, disappointment and strife
All because of unfaithfulness to his wife.
I'm sorry to say my heart rejoiced in seeing the tables turned
On the one whom for so long my heart had yearned
To love from the depths of my very soul,
The one who had made my love wax cold.
God got his attention, and he acknowledged his sin,
And at that moment, his soul God did win
From a spiritual battle that nearly destroyed his life
And nearly stole his children and wife.
So, if you're struggling being faithful to a man
Who deceives you in every way and at every opportunity he can,
Don't give up for that battle does not belong to you,
But it belongs to God who will change him and make him brand new.
It may be a struggle awaiting such a great change,
But when God washes away his sin; He'll also take away your pain.
So, continue to be faithful to the vow you've made;
For, there is a path God has laid
To work it all out for your good,
And to make your husband be the man he should.
Kill him with kindness and continue to pray,
And he'll soon realize he's the stumbling block in his own pathway.
There is a blessing in loving him in spite of;
There is a great blessing in unconditional love.
You say that you are a Christian; so, like Christ you should be
Forgiving, forgetting and believing the Father will hear your plea
To save your husband and deliver him from himself;
And know that in God is where your vengeance lies and nowhere else.
