I really don't want to complain,
Or give the impression that I'm going insane,
But there are things I feel I deserve in this life
As your friend, companion, lover and wife.
I deserve the very best that you have to give
And all the success and prosperity in the life I live.
I deserve romantic and intellectual conversation
Providing your undivided attention with no hesitation
To listen and feel the words that I speak,
And then in turn, give encouraging words when I'm weak
From the battles and struggles I face from day-to-day,
And to give direction around the stumbling blocks life throws in my way.
I tell you of the things I need to make our marriage work,
And when my pleas go unheard, it causes great hurt
Within my heart and in the very depths of my soul
Forcing my love and desires for you to wax cold.
So, please don't think that I'm being a nag when I come to you
Explaining my desires, needs and the things I feel you should do
To make me happy in the life we share
By expressing your love, affection, and showing you care.
I'm not complaining, just opening the door of opportunity
To encourage a marriage of devotion, understanding and unity.
