Roller skating on the neighborhood sidewalks.
“Mornin’ Mrs. Landson, how are you today?”
The breeze flows through my hair as I skate along,
I imagine I am skimming over the ocean,
or zooming cows in my Cessna near Dairy Valley.
or am I Dixie, the prize skater in Roller Derby?

Floating home-made boats on the lake at Alondra Park,
My brother’s boat races mine – who will win, the Kontiki or Aku Aku?

A walk to the park to play with friends,
Shoot some hoops or just playing kick-ball.
Stopping off at the store for some R.C. Cola,
time escapes and I hear mom whistling for me. Gotta run.

After supper, gonna take a bike ride.
Don’t forget the cardboard and the clothespin to make the bike sound like a motorcycle!

Today is 4th of July – fireworks, barbecue, sparklers, and of course, the parade!

Life was simpler then – why, oh why, was I in such a hurry to grow up?
