APPOINTED PRAISE

I once wore my heart on the edge of my sleeve.
I had nothing to take hold of, nothing to believe.
From childhood I knew God was there somewhere.
In church I was taught that things change with prayer.

This truth I didn’t take wholly into my spirit.
I was taught the truth; I just did not hear it.
I lived my life only to please my weak flesh.
My life morphed into a dark pain-filled mess.

Many years did I linger out in the cold world.
I felt terrified lost, like an orphaned little girl.
In darkness I dwelled; there was no light in sight.
I lost all my battles; I almost lost the fight.

Perdition loomed over my sin-sick soul.
My life and I were totally out of control.
I called on King Jesus that grievous dark day.
Dejected and worn, I started humbly to pray.

I felt so ashamed to have waited so long;
My resistance was nil and I was not strong.
“Help me Dear Father”, I began to pray.
“I can’t take this life; not one more day”.

“Come to me my child, come just as you are.
I won’t leave you now; I’ve carried you this far.”
As Jesus whispered those sweet words to me;
He shone His bright light so I could see.

Each day spent with Jesus is peaceful and warm.
He travels with me through calm or through storm.
As I relate to you this wonderfully true story;
My Father in heaven gets ALL the honor and glory.

He appoints heart felt praise deep within my spirit.
I write it all down, so all souls can hear it.
As time marches on, there’s a growing shout.
My God determines what praises come out.

He has placed in me a thankful heart.
From inside my soul, these praises start.
Father grant that the words that meet each line;
Bless a weary or lost soul from time to time.

Go to God and call Him; for He is always near.
He’s never too busy; your soul is His care.
Tell Him of troubles and the pain that’s within.
Confess, repent and turn away from your sin.

Should the hearing or reading of the words that I say;
Help ONE soul meet Jesus; then I’ve pleased God that day.
I pray that each soul is blessed as you read.
I pray these words supply what YOUR spirit needs.
