Poor me, I had to drive the entire 7 miles to work at a company that has not filed bankruptcy. I drove in my gas-filled car that is paid for. My coworker Willie patted me on the back. He drove 84 miles, it took him 2-1/2 hours. At least HE understands my plight.

When I got to work, there were no parking spaces. I had to circle the area 5 times, and finally parked a city block away. I had to walk past a park with lush trees and flowers. I could hear children laughing and playing. Poor me, this is not going to be a good day! Someone at work suggested I start out earlier, but no way, that is MY time. The company should make more parking spaces.

Another thing: I hate shopping. I am forced to shop in grocery stores with overfull shelves, and ripe juicy produce. The bread aisle alone has at least 80 choices of brands and flavors. The clothing stores carry my size, in ever color imaginable. Too many decisions. Poor me.

Poor me, I voted freely in the last election, and my guy did not win. My vote was counted. I was not turned away because I am a woman. I was not executed for voting for the wrong candidate.

Poor me, it is almost mid-December, and does not feel like Christmas. I drove by the ocean on the way home, lamenting that there is no snow, no sleigh rides. I can’t make a snowman or snow angles. No power outages or blizzards. No driveway to shovel. Only yet another 70+ degree day, and you guessed it, sunshine.

And, to top it off, I came home again tonight to a heated spacious apartment, with refrigerator that works – and has food in it. The electricity bill is paid. The rent is paid, the car has gas, the cupboards are full, and I live with my best buddy, my daughter.

Times are difficult… poor me.
