"A fool's mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul." (Proverbs 18:07)
A continuing theme of Proverbs is that what you say with your mouth is important to your life. In fact, you could draw the conclusion that you essentially create the reality of your life by your words. There are numerous warnings that your words will entrap you, will destroy your marriage, and will generally mess up your life. Why then do so few people really follow the counsel of the Lord with regard to their speech? Because we just don’t believe that the counsel of the Lord is true! If we did we would be more careful with our word, and would avoid some of the trouble our mouths get us into. Don't be a fool, watch what you say.
