"Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD'S purpose that prevails." (Proverbs 19:21)
Once we were attending a ground breaking for a new mall. The developer of the mall boasted that his firm had never begun a project that they hadn't completed. Within two years of that boast his firm went bankrupt, and the mall land remained fallow for the next ten years. What happened? His plans certainly didn't work out. Maybe some of your and my plans haven't turned out as we expected. Often our plans fail because they spring from our ego, or our desires. We may not have stopped to ask the Lord for His input on our plans. Regardless of our boasting our future is held in the hand of the LORD, and His purposes for our lives will take precedence over our plans. I'm glad that is so.
