Midst the angst of current lifestyles,
The dreary drudge of daily grind,
When your world gets hot and hostile,
It’s hard to keep your peace of mind.
Everyone is in a hurry,
But do they know where they are bound?
Laden down with care and worry;
‘Most every forehead wears a frown.
Meanwhile, knowledge is advancing
In every land across the globe;
With our governments’ financing
The furthest depths of space are probed.
Where is God in these exertions?
The source of life they say they’ll find!
Are these ventures void diversions
To lead astray the furtive mind?
What’s the value in great learning
If sightless vision leads the blind?
It’s to God man should be turning:
In Him alone is peace of mind!!
Quiet trust in God is treasure,
Beyond the wealth of earthly gain,
Great contentment without measure;
When all else fails it will remain!!
