When we face trouble unlike any we've faced before,
we tend hang our heads in defeat, put our tails down
and run.

We live in days of much uncertainity. Ranging from
rising gas prices to failing banks to food being
unsafe. Things in the world are rapidly changing.
We look around and it seems as though we are
surrounded and defeated.

There are many things to fear. Iran getting a
nuclear weapon, war breaking out between
Israel and the Palestinians, terrorists striking
again on our soil.

With all that is going on, there is hope. Hope in
the Lord.

David knew a little about facing trouble and feeling
overwhelmed. In Psalms 27, David shares some of
his trouble.

27:2- "When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes,
come upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell." (KJV)

David's enemies hated him so bad they wanted to eat him.
According to this verse, David also tells us they failed.
And for good reason.

27:3 " Though an host should encamp against me, my heart
shall not fear : Though war should rise against me, in this I will
be confident." (KJV)

David's enemies weren't just one or two people however, an
army after him. An army of sinners wanting to make war.
David was in a sense overwhelmed and surrounded by trouble.
He had an ace up his sleeve.

27:4 " One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek after;
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple." (KJV)

David makes a strong statement. Indirectly. No matter what's
coming my way, I pray that I never forget God. I continue to
seek His love and reside in His temple. Let the enemies come
and the wars breakout. Just don't let me forget God.

As Christians, we have many reasons to remember God in the
midst of trouble and rely on what Christ taught about such things.
Scripture describes the Word of God as a two-edged sword.
(HEB 4:12)

We need to know when to draw the sword and use it. The Word
is able pierce the soul and spirit. Get past the emotions and reach
us where we are.

PS 27:5 "For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in
the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon
a rock."


Knowing there is safety in the presence of the Lord, gives us the ability
to lift our heads above our enemies. Whatever may come our way, it
really doesn't matter.

Something else the presence of the Lord does is hide us where the enemy
can't find us. David even states that in the time of trouble, God hides him
in the secret of His tabernacle. According to David, the enemy doesn't even
look for us. The presence of the Lord is off limits.

While in the presence of God, we are also set upon a rock. A place where
the enemy can see us however, can't reach us. All the enemy can do is
have a tantrum. He finally found us high upon a rock.

When we face trouble in life, God does these same things with us.

Hides us where the enemy can't find us or won't look.
Sets us high upon a rock where the enemy can only throw
fits.

We too can lift our heads above the enemies in life.
