I hear the beat of the gentle rain
Tapping time on the patio tin;
Its an easy, contented refrain,
Bringing comfort and snugness within.

There's something delightfully pleasant
That eases all the burdens and pains
And consoles our hearts for the present
In the sound of the pattering rain.

In part, it's the comfort of feeling
We're protected from danger and harm,
Makes the sound of rain so appealing
And accounts for its soothing charm.

We know we can't live without it,
So I'm sure, in the depths of being
We're snug and contented about it,
For it's God's provision we're seeing.

So next time when the gentle rains fall,
Tapping time on the patio tin,
Sing glad praises in tune with it all,
Giving glory and honour to Him.

"Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness." Acts 14:17
