Sometimes we humans who have a Savior we know seldom give much attention to circumstances we see as an impediment to our chosen direction in life. Things happen, or fail to happen and we curse the happening or failure. We curse it because it stands in the way of doing what we want to do with our lives, and ourselves.

I love wedding photography. I don't do a very expensive job of it, because I don't have the wisdom or equipment for it. So when an email attachment of wedding pictures I was trying to send didn't load and go like I wanted, I was furious. But later, when I lost another lead to shoot a wedding, I stood back and wondered why. Adrian Rogers once said "God knocks by circumstances, and speaks by His Word".

When things don't go the way I think they should once, I might write it off as demonic interference. But when a pattern begins to show itself, I begin to consider the sovereignty of God and might He be putting His foot on my path to change it. Sovereignty and patience mark His ways in our lives. Sovereignty, patience and encouragement in a new direction, or an old one I neglected because it meant doing things against my nature-like trusting Him for all my needs. I give lip service to faith, but what I really want to do is be self sufficient in all ways. Such humanness stands as an explanation for some difficulties in my life just now. Being married and letting a mate be an avenue of provision when I was single for nearly 52 years is tough. I want to "show her". God wants to use her to lead me, to bless me, sometimes.

Proverbs 16:9 says "the mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps". So true, its just a matter of how much directing He has to do before I wise up, see His path and follow Him in it.
