Prophecy

Let your loins be girded
and your lamps burning,
and be like the men
who are waiting for
their master
to come home
from the marriage feast,
so that they may open
to him
at once
when he comes and knocks.

"Hey, LORD?
I've got a question about
the Rapture!"

[SMILE.]
"What is it, My child.
Shouldn't you be getting
ready for bed?"

"Yeah, I am!
But, first I gotta ask Ya
a question!"

[PATIENT NOD.]
"Go on."

"Well......suppose, like,
the Rapture's tomorrow
MORNING?
(Frown and squint.)
And, we don't have
any family who's CHRISTIAN?
Who are we gonna STAND WITH?"

"Stand where,
My beloved."

"STAND with!
IN THE CLOUDS!"

[SMILE.]
[NOD.]
"Ah.
I see."

"Yeah, I mean,
are we just gonna be
in this big crowd of PEOPLE?"

"You'll be with Me,
My beloved."

"No, LORD!
You don't know what
I MEAN!
Suppose we don't
KNOW anybody?"

"You will be with Me,
My precious."

"Yeah; but......LORD!
You're gonna be BUSY!
I mean, don't Ya have to
go down BACK down 'ta
EARTH, and
start tossing BOWLS
on EVERYBODY?"

"What bowls."

"The BOWLS, Lord!
THE BOWLS!"

[PATIENT SIGH.]
"Ah, yes.
The Bowls.
[PATIENT PAUSE.]
That comes later, child."

(Worried squint.)
"Yeah! But, STILL!
I'm sure You're gonna
be really BUSY: what with
yellin' at Your angels and ALL!"

"I don't yell at them, child.
They listen to Me."

"Well, I'm sure You're gonna
be doin' somethin', Lord.
What about the seals?"

[WISE SMILE!]
"They'll be fine, child.
Don't worry about them."

(Laugh!)
"No, Lord!
I mean THE SEALS!"

[LAUGH!]
"I know what you mean, My child.
Now, get some sleep!"

(Far off squint.)
I picture myself just millin'
around.....in the clouds.....
with a bunch 'a people
I don't know.
It's WORRISOME."

"Not to worry, child."

(Bite lower lip.)
(Squint some more.)
"I picture myself wandering
around this big crowd
'a people........just lookin'
for a familiar face....!"

"But you will see One, child:
Mine.
(CHUCKLE.)
Now,
go to sleep."

Son of man
is coming
at an
unexpected
hour.
