Show or Tell?

John 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.
John 10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
John 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
John 10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
John 14:11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works‘ sake.

Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

We may say or preach many things to people; yet, our works will speak much louder. Do they see the nature of Christ in us or are our words just talk? Do they see grace coming from us instead of criticism or judging when they do something, which is not Christ-like? Do they feel love and compassion coming from a gentle kind spirit in us when they are hurting or having a tough day? Just as Jesus said, believe my works if nothing else. Often we preach or try to correct another’s wrong when they look at our fruit. If we know to be or do something and we are different, then our words mean little. The true testimony is about the changes God made in us that are visible to others. Our words with this testimony mean so much more than our religiousness being pushed on someone. Let us not just tell others the right way, but let us show them by example of our good works.

We also can tell someone what to do, yet is it not more effective if we are doing what we say and have the good fruit to show as a result?

Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
