At that time
gifts will be brought
to the Lord of Hosts
from a people
tall and smooth,
from a people feared
near and far,
a nation mighty
and conquering,
whose land the rivers
divide,
to Mount Zion,
the place of the name
of the Lord of Hosts.
[Isaiah 18:7]

Who ARE these guys?"

"Who, child."

"The guys in this Isaiah part;
what, are they AMERICANS?"

"Why, child?"

"Eh......well, we're a lot
taller than folks used to be;
probably 'cuz of nutrition,
and stuff."

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"We're a lot smoother,
also."

[LAUGH!]

"Well? It's TRUE!
I mean, guys don't have
beards, like they used to
in Your day."

"Ah.
[SMILE.]
I see."

"SO?
Are these the AMERICANS?"

[SILENCE.]

"You aren't gonna TELL me,
Lord, ARE You?"

[IRRITATING SILENCE.]

"Plus, a lot of rivers
divide our country;
just look at Three Rivers
Stadium, in Pittsburgh."

[SMILE.]

"Yeah; there's rivers
everywhere, in America.
So, I figure that's who
You're talking about."

[SILENCE.]

"Of course, You could've
also said,
'The land of the high
gasoline prices',
but Isaiah wouldn't have
known what You were talkin'
about. I mean, he would'a
said,
'What's THAT, Lord;
what's a GASOLINE?"

[SILENCE.]

"Hey, LORD?
Where'd Ya GO?"

"I'm right Here, child."

"Oh, I thought I was
boring You, like I
do with other folks."

"Never, child."

"Aw! You're just
SAYING that,
to be NICE!"

"No, My child.
You're wrong."

"What, Lord:
about this Part being
about the AMERICANS?"

"No."

"What, then?"

"I'm never nice."

you swift messengers,
to a nation,
tall and smooth,
to a people
