store, a couple WEEKS ago!"

"What was that, child."

"Don't You REMEMBER:
that A & W 12-pack,
I saw on SALE?"

[SOLEMN NOD.]

"I saw these big boxes of
A & W on sale.....
except, when I got
home, it turned out
to be Sparkling Vanilla Cream Soda!"

"I remember, child."

"When I saw the box,
I thought:
WOW!
MY FAVORITE!
ON SALE!"

[NOD.]

"Well, it said A & W
on the BOX! I didn't
know they made other
kinds of SODA! I
mean, the box had
a different COLOR on it,
but, I thought.....?"

[PATIENT NOD.]

"So? I didn't even
notice what the can
said, until I had
already OPENED the BOX!"

[VERY PATIENT NOD.]

"Don't You see how
this relates to YOU,
LORD?
(watchful pause)
I thought it would
be as clear as DAY?"

[SMILE. NOD.]
"Ah. Yes,
My precious."

"Do 'Ya see what
I MEAN?"

"Yes.
I understand,
My beloved.."

"So.... HOW am I gonna
KNOW?"

[SILENCE.]

"How am I gonna
know about
the LORD JESUS?"

"Read My Word, child."

"Yeah, but maybe
Your Gospel is,
I dunno, like the
A & W box of Cream SODA?"

"But It is, My child!"

"Huh?"

"It is different."

"Yes!
It IS!
It's not.....
It ain't KOSHER!"

[NOD.]
"Yes, My child.
But..
[SMILE.]
The Maker is the same."

Yet it was the will
of the Lord
to bruise him....
He has put him to grief,
when he makes himself
an offering for sin.
[Isaiah 53:10]
