“But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first getting estimates and then checking to see if he has enough money to pay the bills?” (Luke 14:28) The Living Bible

Just as a Christian should set aside the first 10% of their gross income for God (His part is 10%), we should also set aside money for expenses that we know are coming up soon. Items like cars, heating fuel, real estate tax, etc. should all be planned into an annual budget.

We should not live from miracle to miracle after using up money that should have been set aside. Some Christians even blame the devil when money has run out instead of realizing that they need to get their financial plan in order. They may even call everyone to pray for them because they think they are under demonic attack instead of admitting they planned poorly.

Once we have a plan in place, we must stick to it so that the loudest voice we have will be one of victory and rejoicing. A good steward will figure out how much of each paycheck needs to be set aside for things that wear out and to have enough money for emergencies. Let’s build up our storehouse to overflowing so that we may keep our eyes on God and listen for what’s next.

PRAYER
Father, thank you that your Word provides practical ways to not only stay afloat but to prosper. Help us to put into practice steps that will keep us in victory so that we can praise and keep our eyes on You. Amen.
