And the Spirit lifted me up
and brought me
in the vision by the
Spirit of God into Chaldea,
to the exiles.
[Ezekiel 11:24]

"How COME, Lord?"

"How come what,
My child."

"How come I had to get
glasses when I was just
2 years OLD?"

"'Cuz, child;
I said so."

"Yeah, I guess I'm
satisfied with that.
(laugh and nod)
Except, now I gotta'
wear TWO pairs 'a glasses,
just to READ! Those young
youngsters at work look at
me like I'm NUTS."
(frown up at the air conditioning vent)

[SYMPATHETIC NOD.]
"What happened with the
bifocals, My precious."

"Oy, PLEASE!
Those blasted things
cost me almost as much
as that CAR business the
other day!
And, after
two weeks, I just
RETURNED them!
(pause)
The glasses, Lord:
not the car; that
thing's ten years old,
and paid for."

"I understand, My precious.
So, what happened?"

"Well, the doctor's
twenty-something clerk
kept sayin' to
me: 'Oh, you'll get USED
to them!'"

"And, did you,
My beloved?"

"I tried, Lord.
I really tried.
The brand, I think,
was called 'Progressive.'
(laugh!)
Only they got progressively
WORSE!"

[SMILE.]

"It was like walking
around in one 'a
those crazy mirror
places at a CARNIVAL!"

[MORE SYMPATHETIC NODDING.]

"So.......eh,
how da' Ya
expect me to learn
Your WORD, LORD?"

"With your heart,
My child.
With all your heart."

Then the vision
that I had seen
went up from me.
And I told the exiles
all the things
that the Lord
had showed me.
[Ezekiel 11:24-25]
