In the beginning
was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning
with God;
all things were made through
Him,
and without Him

"Yeah; somehow,
it's not as easy, as
it was thirty years ago!"

"You can do it, My Beloved."

"Yeah. Okay, Lord.
I was sayin' It to myself,
just this morning when I
woke up......"

[NOD.]

"But, I guess I was in a
silly mood, and......."

[SMILE.]
"Tell Me, child."

"And, well......I started
thinkin' up all these
things that just COULN'T'VE
been made with YOU, there!"

"Like what, My precious?"

(laugh!)
"Well.......I started makin' up
a mental list of stuff. Most of it
comes from 'my day': stuff
from the 60's and 70's.
(thoughtful silence)

How about:
The living BRA?"

[SOLEMN NOD.]
"Yes, My precious.
I was there."

"How about:
The TROLL doll?"

[GENTLE LAUGH.]
"Yes, My child.
I was there."

"OKAY. How about:
The SLINKY?"

[VERY SOLEMN NOD.]

"Eh......and,
That little coat that
folks put on their
CHIHUAHUAS?"

"Yes, My precious.
Unbelievably: yes."

(laugh!)
"How about:
The Home SHOPPING Network?"

"Oy vey."

(laugh!
laugh!)
"Lucky CHARMS?"

"Ah, yes.
The cereal with the
marshmellows in it.
[PAUSE. SIGH.]
Yes. Yes, child.
[ANOTHER PAUSE.]
Yes, My beloved.
I was there."

(laugh!)
"The LITTER box?"

"Of course, child.
I INVENTED it."

(laugh.)
"No WAY, Lord!
YOU invented THAT?"

"Of course, I did, My precious.
[SMILE.
PAUSE. NOD.]
Just for you."

The Light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness
has not overcome It.
