More than Just in Our Midst

The following scriptures are two promises that we have been given to let us know that we are never alone. Even though we are never alone, let’s look at these a little deeper.

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Jesus said that He would never leave nor forsake us and also where two or three are gathered together in His name, He would be in their midst.

Many times we have three friends over. Maybe one or two dominate the conversation. The other is just actually observing. Because of the two dominating, the other never gets to say anything or if they do, the others are so busy talking they didn’t hear what was said anyway. Let’s look at this in relation to Jesus and how He speaks to us through the Holy Spirit. When we were saved, the Holy Spirit came into us so that we may have communion with the Father through Jesus. The Holy Spirit never leaves us, yet often we never hear Him speak. When we are so busy running the show by our own programs or talk, we miss the greatest blessing that we can have, fellowship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Just because He is in our midst, does not mean that we acknowledge Him or allow Him to speak. We must take time to listen. We must learn and desire to listen to what He has to say. Many people are satisfied just to know that Jesus is always with us. This is just the first blessing. The deeper blessing is allowing intimate fellowship with Him through the Holy Spirit in our lives. This requires a cost however. We must learn to give up our control and we must lose our life to find it. The Holy Spirit will take you on many adventures and give you the greatest peace and joy that exists. I have found that intimacy with Him is worth the cost. The cost is sometimes hard to pay, but always worth it on the other side. I pray that you will desire and intimate relationship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit as you will find the greatest life that there is. You can just allow Jesus in your room or you can go deeper and have an intimate fellowship with Him through the Holy Spirit. He wants to be more than just in your midst. He wants to speak to you and give revelation, guidance, and blessings that can only come as you learn to listen to what He desires to say.
