Then the Lord God said
Behold, the man has become
like one of Us,
knowing good and evil....
therefore, the Lord God
sent him forth from
the Garden of Eden,
to till the ground
from which he was taken.

"Lord?"

"Yes, child."

"Were Adam and Eve Jewish?"

"Why do you ask, child?"

"Well, why not?
I mean, You're not givin' me
any of the BIG stuff I ask for;
I may as well ask about somethin',
'Ya know: EASY."

"Ah, I see.
Child, what have I told you,
before?"

"Before WHAT?"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"What: about You not being
Santa Claus?"

"Child, I want you to go back
to My Word."

"Why, Lord? Is it in THERE:
I mean,
about Adam and Eve bein' Jewish?"

[MORE PATIENT SILENCE.]

"You can tell me, Lord.
I won't tell anybody."

"What are you being, child?"

"Sassy? Full of tongue-in-cheek humor?
Funny, 'cuz I enjoy entertaining people?
Silly, 'cuz I want to tease You?
Afraid to talk 'ta You about the more
weighty stuff in my life?"

[NOD.]

"Okay, I know You like keeping
people in suspense, Lord.
So, I'll give you my opinion."

"Tell Me, child."

"No. Uh, uh.
I just don't see it, Lord."

"Why not, child?"

"'Cuz, Lord;
my whole family's Jewish.
Culturally, that whole
scene just doesn't fit."

[LAUGH.]
"Why, child?"

"Well, before Adam and Eve
took one bite 'a that apple,
they'd be fightin' about it,
for at least several days,
if not weeks....months, even.
All of Creation would've
heard them screaming at
each other. You couldn't
have HELPED, but get
involved!"

"But I did, child."

"What do 'Ya mean, Lord?"

"Read My Word,
and see."
