Our House

Our house is our body
That may be beautiful outside
Yet there are many rooms
In which many things do hide

The natural man looks at the exterior
As to what he thinks should be
But until he walks through the rooms
He will never know the real me

When Jesus comes into our heart
He does occupy a space
It is not until He becomes Lord
That He is able, the darkness to erase

There is something unique
In each and every room
Just like a natural house
It needs to be swept with a broom

The room may be dark
As there is no light
There is no brightness
As it still belongs to the night

The room may be all fixed up
And be swept and clean
Yet the closet is still full
Of things that cannot be seen

Since God is a spirit
And we are a spirit too
Unless God joins our spirit
There will be no life in me and you

Until we allow Jesus
To occupy every space
And clean it up and make things new
His glory will not be on our face

We may have the most beautiful body
Yet inside we are so dead
Jesus wants to change all things
And with our heart be so wed

He will make all things new
As our spirit will become alive
We no longer have to depend on our mind
We no longer have to contend or strive

Our mind will be at peace
As pleasant thoughts we think
All the things that seemed so hard
Will disappear or away shrink

Jesus will lead us forward
To all that He has for us to do
We will find new happiness inside
And a life that we want to pursue

When we allow Jesus to be Lord
Of every room that is in our heart
Our life will find new meaning
And new purpose, to us, will He impart.
