A Young Man

I once met a young man
That knew scripture much more than I
I could not have known except by the Holy Spirit
That on his head knowledge, he did rely

Though he memorized all scripture
Which was commendable indeed
He never had met Jesus as his Savior
He did not know Jesus, personally

His knowledge in itself did not save him
It just weighted down his mind
Until he asked Jesus to save him
New life, he could never find

He was very much surprised
When the Lord revealed his need
He really wondered how I knew
Since he had not told me

I got to lead him to Jesus that day
And he made Jesus his Savior and Lord
He found the words that were in his head
Once in his spirit, would change him forever more

It is not what we know, but whom we meet
That will save us and wash away all of our sin
So I pray that you will do, as did this young man
And ask Jesus into your heart, and be Borne Again.
