Thunder and Lightning

I remember as a child, watching my dad on the patio amidst a thunderstorm. I thought to myself Dad, either your extremely brave or extremely stupid. Of course, my dad has always been my role model so he was the bravest in my eyes. Naturally, wanting to be brave like my father I decided to join him on the patio and stand their life a brick wall...I mean if he can do it, I can do it also right? Well, when I heard that first roar from the thunder within seconds I was in the basement with mom. January 28th 2007 I realize...thunder cant affect you, but lightning can.

As Christians its important to realize Satan is nothing but thunder when you walk with Christ. All he can do is make alot of noise, but he is unable to touch us because we carry the shield of Christ. Like when I was a child, hiding from the thunder in our basement, as a child in Christ...he is now my basement and my shelter against Satan and his thunder.

Many Christians find themselves amidst something similar as a thunderstorm..but this is a "spiritual storm". Its important for you to realize the more thunder or struggles from the devil you go through...well, soon behind the thunder is Gods powerful lightning...something much bigger, stronger, and beautiful. God holds the real power, all Satan can do is make alil noise. Satan is like a dog with no teeth..he can bark, but has no bite. Its important to remember, during your spiritual storm Satan will try and scare you to distract your attention and take focus of Christ by using "spiritual thunder". But be assured Christ will come with the "Spiritual Lightning"..all you need to do is ask.

On the early Sunday morning hours of January 28th I was engulfed in a spiritual storm. I had been experiencing an amazing walk with Christ, but on this Sunday morning I woke up in a cold sweat-shaking-and spazing uncontrollably. Unable to talk and could barely breath. For hours I laid in bed, with the worst physical pain Ive ever experienced. It was Satan's thunder, an attempt to keep me from going to church, because he knew what was about ready to happen.

Hours later I somehow managed to get to church, there I took my first communion, wrote my first article for Christian Roll Call, and that evening I was baptized. Those three experiences were Gods Lighting..much bigger, better, and brighter than Satan's thunder which tried to get me to stay home. So remember, you may experience trials, tribulations, and temptations...those are Satan's thunder, they are just noise made to frighten and discourage you but Christ is following with the real show. Ron Hutchcraft once said "Our plans maybe interrupted by storms, but God's never are". Persevere through the thunder and look forward to the lightning show.
