A Warrior Or A Worrier
For 3 years Ive trained in the military not to fear death. Ive been through intense physical, mental, and emotional pain, experienced gas chambers, live fire of my head, and have been trained to ignore emotions. In all reality all I needed for my drill sergeant to show me the scripture "even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death...I will fear no evil". Can a shadow of a lion bite you, or the shadow of a bullet kill you? I don't think so, with Christ all threats become shadows and all worries should become harmless shadows. From this verse comes the question are you a Warrior or a Worrier?
My stay in jail has taught me that there are alot more worriers than warriors. Grown men are on their bunks crying because of the worries of tomorrow, a burden God never intended us to carry. Yet all unbelievers will keep carrying their worries until they physically and emotionally cant handle it. I once heard the quote "you'll never find a atheist in a foxhole", whether thats true or not, I don't know, but I know the men I served with during basic and AIT all at sometime depended on Christ.
They say babies are only born with 2 fears, fear of falling and loud noises. The other fears we go through life worrying about are all caused by man. There is no question, Christian or not we all fear something. The difference make is whether you let your fear affect your faith. When love and faith is greater than your fear, thats when we act and thats when we succeed. You must not let your fear take control over your life. Naturally, the more you fear, the more you worry, with one comes the other.
Remember, no one is perfect, so chances are we will all worry. But you cant spend so much time that it affects your relationship with Christ. Some people spend so much time worrying about what they dont have we forget about what we already have, which is Christ. Take your worries to Christ because he never meant for you to carry that burden. The amazing thing is, whatever worry or problem you may have, consult the bible...I promise you'll find the answer. I encourage you to become a warrior not a worrier.
Remember, worry is like a rocking chair, gives you something to do but gets you no where.
