The Question

Tonight I had a revelation..one I have always heard...but never took to heart. A very simple concept that all to often goes misunderstood. Its one that is easy to say..easy to talk about..and pretty easy to understand. But extremely hard to do. However, it could be one of the most important things you should do in your life...not only that, but the most important in someone else's life. Its one of the most important commandments in the bible and the sole duty of the church and us to do. Take the word of salvation to every nation and to every ear and eye.

As I was walking tonight...feeling sorry for myself, being depressed, sad, worrying, and just being Rusty, two kids stopped to talk. They were driving an old beat up car...radio blaring...smoke rolling out the window..and driving like a crazy woman(no offense to crazy woman). I seen them drive around the block a few times..at first i thought to myself, Oh Crap...im gonna get shot. But then they pulled over next to me, and asked “Whats your name?”, I replied “Rusty...”. Deep down I was hoping the conversation would end there...but next the said, “Do you need a ride somewhere man?”. I replied “nope”...they said Goodbye and squealed their tires as they drove off in a hurry.

I thought to myself what idiots, then God checked me and said “that was you..just a year ago”. Immediately I thought...what if Rock and Joni(my life savers) just let me drive on by...what if they didn't stop me and talk to me, ask if they could help, and simply just didn't reach out and ask me The Question. What if they just sat...starred...and watched me squeal the tires of life and say to themselves...what idiots. I would probably still be filling my nose with cocaine till it bled, i would still be drinking my pain away, and I would still be with other girls, I would simply still be...a dead man walking.

Could I have been these guys last chance? Are those two kids going to spend a life in hell because I was to depressed and sad to say something...to speak up...to stand up for my savior. They didn't blow it for themselves because they know not what they do...but could I have blown it for them? All because I was feeling to sorry for myself. Was I these guys last chance...I don't know, I never will know, but what I do know is never again will i put my feelings over someone else's life. Maybe there is a slight chance this article might reach those two kids. If it does...here is my message to you.

I don't know what life your leading, I don't know who your serving, and frankly I don't care. What I do care is that you have the opportunity to live a life filled with blessings..but more importantly, a life filled with Jesus...and his love and forgiveness. I am only 20...and I have sinned enough for 20 life times. Yet, I, Rusty Boruff...the kid you talked to tonight who cared more about himself than you. I am forgiven...and I am sorry. Gods knocking at your door...are you going to let him in?

For you others...who has God placed in your life today? Save a life...don't sit back, and someday ask at their funeral...do you think they were a Christian? Its too late to ask those questions...ask them now. Here, Ill start. Do You Know Jesus?
