I posted this a while back, but after coming through such a trial I thought I would retread this article. While surrounded by Christians and being heavily involved in a church can make one become to comfortable and forget some of the more important aspects of salvation. Now that I have stared my old sins in the face again and faced many tempations, I share this reminder.

I Did It

I am the innkeeper with no more room
For the gentle woman with the Christ in her womb
My rooms are for those who can pay
But I have a manger lined with hay

I am there when water becomes wine
But I ignore this wondrous sign
Reveling and making merry with my friends
Unaware of this gift that God sends

I am the scribe and teacher of the laws
Persecuting the Son of Man without cause
Offended by the works of His mighty hand
His teaching the multitudes in the land

I am the guard in Gethsemane garden
It was my heart that was harden
Arresting Jesus for His great crimes
He is accused of breaking the law many times

I am the Pharisee holding the trial
Charging this criminal so vial
Who is He to make such claim?
Breaking the Sabbath by healing the lame

I am the man that struck His face
To make Him respect the man and this place
Now over to the Romans, Him I give
This Man condemned, no longer to live

I am the governor in this land
Of this Man’s blood I wash my hand
This is One you have chosen to die
Only to please the crowd, that is why

I am the soldier who spat and said
“King of the Jews” needs a crown on His headD
I twisted the thorns into the crown
Then upon Him I placed the scarlet gown

I am the one placing stripes on His back
Again and again my whip did attack
His blood flowed from flesh that is torn
Prophesy says this is why He is born

I am the soldier on Skull Hill
With hammer and spikes ready to kill
I swing the hammer over and again
Until all the spikes are driven in

I am the thief on the other cross
From my lips insults at Him I toss
Save yourself and us if You are the one
I laughed and ridiculed God’s only Son

I am the one who placed Him there
It was my sins He came to bare
At the Father’s right He will ever sit
But this pain and this shame, I did it.

I am sooooo glad you decided to repost this! It really brings home to us the fact that our sins, regardless of "size" or nature, are the very thing that Christ came to do away with through His great sacrifice. I don't recall having seen this before. Again, I'm sure glad you reposted it!

There is a song with similar topic- I was the one who drove the nails- I can't remember who sang it or anyother part of the song, this part stuck with me as will your poem. It was for all our sins that Christ died for. That one drop of blood covered so much! Love Danette

Christian, I made a shortcut to this one on my desktop, for I intend to go back and look at it leisurely to let the significance of it all soak in.
God bless

Christian - This is a very good poem. It is similar to one I wrote a while back called "I Was The One" - but yours is better. Great job. Keep sharing His glory. In Christ's Love,

What a sad confession you make, Christian! And you have the grace to say it. We all are those persons who did all those things. This was a touching poem. Thanks so much for sharing. I am glad that you have been restored. God is always there for you. I feel your deep pain and think of you often, breathing a prayer for you. ... Helen

I am so glad that when we confess our sins God is Faithful and Just to forgive our sins. The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
Thanks for this reminder of how merciful our God is. God bless you:)
