When Jesus was in Bethany at Simon's house, a woman came in and anointed His head with an expensive box of sweet-smelling ointment. The disciples were indignant. Why, they said, this could have been sold and the money given to the poor! But Jesus said, "You always have the poor with you; you will not always have Me. She has done this for my burial." (Paraphrased)

"I say to you wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will be told for a memorial to her." Matt. 26:13

She did what she could: what a wonderfully comforting epitaph this would be from the lips of our Savior!

It's not according to what a person doesn't have or can't do, but what he has and can do that he will be judged. Many moments of life are wasted worrying about being unable to do more or better. Satan whispers, "You can't do everything, so you might as well not do anything." Don't you believe it! A drink of cold water given in the Master's name, if that's all you can do, will not be without reward.

"But what does the Lord require of you, O man, but to love mercy, to do justly and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8

And don't fret over what you are not able to do. Just do what your hand and heart find to do. The Lord will take up the slack knowing we have done what we could.
