O our God,
wilt Thou not execute
judgment upon them?
For we are powerless
against this great multitude
that is coming against us.
We do not know what to do,
but our eyes are upon Thee.
[2 Chronicles:12]
***************************
"Lord."

"I am here, child."

"I finally got to the store,
tonight, for some batteries."

"Yes, child."

"Well, my mouse quit!
Then, I realized it was
those little batteries -
and, all I had were
the large size."

[NOD.]

"It's so frustrating; I
don't understand why batteries
have to be different sizes, Lord.
You end up with a drawer full of
one, and none of the other. Then,
you've always got, like, one 'C'
battery that doesn't fit anything,
and if it does, the thingamachig
looks like it requires two -
so, inevitably you have to schleppe
back to the store for another 'C'.
Then, when you get back home,
it turns out that you should'a
got 7 matching 'C's and not just one."

[SOLEMN NOD.]
"These are trials, My precious."

"Oh, You bet, Lord!
You know I'm sorta'
feeling like those guys did -
in 2nd Chronicles."

"How so, child."

"I feel small and powerless:
without the right batteries,
so to speak."

"I understand, little one."

"I really try to keep my
near-sighted eyes on You,
Lord. But, like Peter, I
keep looking out at the
ocean."

[SILENCE.]

"Hey; that's new, Lord!
I never made reference
to anything in the
New Testament, before!"

"Read to Me, child."

"Okay. Here it is:

So Peter got out of the boat
and walked on the water,
and came to Jesus;
but when he saw the wind,
he was afraid,
and beginning to sink
he cried out, "Lord, save me!"
[Matthew 14:30]

Here's the rest of it:

Jesus immediately reached out
His hand and caught him,
saying to him,
O man of little faith,
why did you doubt?
[Matthew 14:31]

That last part makes
me squirm, Lord."

"Why, child."

"Well, cuz' I feel like
You often ask that
of me, too."

[SILENCE.]

"Cuz' I have too little faith....
in You. I admit it."

[SILENCE.]

"Christian songs say we're
supposed to bring everything
to the Cross........and leave it There."

[SILENCE.]

"I don't know if I'm
ready to do that, Lord."

[SILENCE.]

"Well; I guess I could try."

[SILENCE.]

"You know how easily
embarrassed I get, Lord."

"Yes, child."

"But, I guess I could try."

[SILENCE.]

"Do I need to take off my
Star of David, first?"

"No."

"Okay, then.
Here goes."
*****************************
Thus says the Lord to you,
Fear not,
and be not dismayed
at this great multitude;
for the battle is not yours,
but God's.
[2 Chronicles 20:15]

Very well done, Julie. The title appealed to me right away. Then, after reading the story, I think the "triple A" refers to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The whole piece is great. There are a lot of conversations with God out there; however you brought a unique twist to this one as you show a Jewish person accepting Jesus. I like how you showed God's patience when He was silent and let His child talk it out!

I look forward to reading more of your truly inspired work.
