"Hey, Lord, do You know what
'lite' means?"

[NOD.]

"I don't mean 'light' ;
I mean 'lite' - like
'lite beer'".

"Yes, child."

"Well, THAT'S weird."

"How so."

"Well, commercials didn't
invent the word 'lite' until,
like, the 1990's. How
do YOU know about it?"

"Who AM I, child?"

"What?
(silence.)
Uh.....You're the One Who
listens to everybody's
prayers....aren't You?"

[NOD.]

"Hey, Lord?
Do You mind when I
talk flippant to You,
when I'm in traffic?"

[SMILE.]

"I can't help it;
my Philadelphianesse
comes out,
and I start talking
real sarcastic -
to You, the other
cars, and mainly to myself."

"Yes, child. I hear you."

"Oy.
Well, isn't that praying, too?"

[SILENCE.]

"I mean, it's not in the
conventional way, but
I think it's still PRAYING."

[PATIENT NOD.]

"Anyhow, Lord;
today I got lite-internet -
it's cheaper than the
other thing. And, I
was thinking....."

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"You know, Lord;
You know what You
should do?"

"What's that, My precious."

(smile)
"I think You should make
a Bible-lite.
What do You think?"

[SILENCE.]

"No, I didn't think You
would be that nuts about it.
You like all that heavy stuff,
don't You, Lord?"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"That's okay, Lord!
I understand!"

"Are you in traffic now, child?"

"Oh, and You mean I'm
being flippant? No!
I'm not! Honestly!
Maybe there SHOULD
be a Bible-lite!
Really; maybe You
should think about it."

"Yes, child.
And, who will write it
for Me?"

(smile)
"Well, ME, Lord!
Of course!"

[SMILE.]
