God, I need a rainbow!

God, I need a rainbow!
I just need to know that you are here.
And that you care
For me like no other,
Closer than any brother
Or mother could ever be.
How I need to see
A reminder of thee
Before me.

It seems as if this storm
Is not like all the others.
For I have had many troubles
And my share of fears
That I was going under.
Oh, the many things I wonder,
As they patiently wait for me to blunder
Things up in my life.

How could this have happened?
I was seeking your face,
Inquiring of your grace,
Very prepared for this race,
Ready to take first place.
Only failing to see
That it was only me
You were after.

You've been faithful through the years.
All the many tears
I’ve shed cause I thought,
I was shifting the gears.
But soon realizing
That you were in control
Of all things that matter
How I am only a tatter
As I stand before you.

I just need one word from your throne
To keep carrying on
Sometime feeling alone
And standing and fighting
As I brave this test
You’ve allowed to make me the best
At much contest
By my flesh.

But always knowing
Your love is flowing
From your heart to mine.
You’re gentle and kind
And it’s easy to find
A reminder of you
As I push rewind
On the recorder in my mind.
