I Lay Me Down

A vulnerable position it is to be in
Even when drowning in all my sin
Prostrate there at my Lord's feet
At the New Covenant Mercy seat

To lay me down before my All in All
To submit myself to His call
Even knowing that is for my best
Choosing submission is a tough test

I lay me down open and bare
Giving my life into the Shepherd's care
As the sheep heeding His voice
To follow the Jesus is my choice

To lay me down in submission
Allows me to obey the Great Commision
To lay down is to be completely vulnerable
Allowing the Holy Spirit to guide my soul

As the Holy Word teaches I lay me down
To someday receive my robe and crown
Daily I must crucify my rebellious flesh
By His Blood I am made new and fresh

Faith displayed through my obedience
My Advocate declares my innocence
Not by my own works as it is said
But by grace through the Blood shed

I am but a sinful man once flesh born
Reborn through the One wearing a crown of thorn
By Jesus sacrifice for you and me
He suffered and died to set us free

Jesus came into this world for love
This gift of grace from God above
Of His own free will, His life He gave
His resurrection freed us from the grave

By His love we are saved, by His love we are free
Humbly I offer the Lord all of me
Before the One wearing the golden crown
My life, my love, At His feet I lay me down.
