In the Midst of the Storm

In the midst of the storm I seek Your face
Hear my cry, Oh Lord! Rise up and deliver me from this place

I have stumbled blindly from the straight and narrow way
Help me, Dear Lord! I have strayed and become lost, rescue me this day

The rain is falling hard and the wind is a gale
Save me, Mighty Lord! I am staggering on the path that leads to Hell

Waves of fear crash down full of fear and doubt
Call to me, My Lord! Once more to me “Peace, be still” shout

This life’s storm consumes me, drowning me in fear
Rescue me, Oh Lord! Let me hear your voice powerful and clear

As a ship in the storm, I feel broken and alone
Hear me, Precious Lord! My heart is heavy. Hear my soul groan

In the darkness of the storm Your Light shines through
Praise You, My Rock! You hold me close for Your promises are true

Brothers and Sisters,

There are so many storm clouds in life that they can distract our eyes from Jesus. The enemy will use this cloud cover to attempt to plant fear and doubt into even the most faithful heart.

I rejoice in the Lord because even though I cannot feel Him right now, I know that I am being carried safely in His arms. Although the clouds are blocking my view, I still seek His face.

Today is a rough day for I have had my focus on the storms. Pray for me to be faithful and obedient. I want to follow the example of Peter to have the courage to step out from the boat and walk to Jesus through this storm.

God is faithful even when our hearts are consumed with doubt. I am there now. I know that all His promises are true and I am clinging to that with all my heart as my flesh and spirit war during this trial.

I know that my fears and worries are a disobedience to the Lord, but yet I war with my flesh still. I know God is good ALL the time and in my weakness He is strong. I confess that God strength is so large right now for I am very weak.

So to quote Casting Crowns “I praise You in this storm.” Pray for my family and pray for me as we wait for the Lord to turn this test into a testimony.

Hang in there Christian! You've already stepped on the water, if you are praising GOD! You are on the water, even now, and you know what His word says, "When you go through the waters...you will not drown." You are in the depth of the School of the Holy Spirit. God is even using your gift of writing, and your willingness to write about this storm, to encourage others to be more vulnerable in their writing gift. (Praising with you...Barbara)

This is so sad, Christian. I feel your pain. You have compared this stormy time in your life, well, like being in the midst of the storm. It reminded me of one time I was on the lake when a storm came up. I was terrified, and cried out to God. He (God) sent a rescue boat out for me. So I DO know a little of how you feel. But I also know how you feel spiritually. I've been there, and I am sure that MOST Christians HAVE been there. David was. Remember? He thought God had forgotten him. Even Elijah thought that. But Christian, having read your most recent article, "Moved", I know you have found your way back. .. You are so brave to make these confessions. You will never know how they may help others. THEY WILL! May God bless you.

In the darkness of the storm Your Light shines through
Praise You, My Rock! You hold me close for Your promises are true...These words touch my heart. I've been in the darkness and every time God's light came shining through. Thanks for sharing this poem and also for all your wonderful comments. Thanks for taking the time to read my poems. I am glad you were blessed by them. I am praying for you and your family. Already, dear Christian, He is turning it into that testimony. Already, I see Him holding you up, just as we hold you up in prayer. He is keeping you through the storm. No storm in all eternity will ever take you from His hand. Hang on. He's going to bring you through with flying colors. Praying for you, Brother. I love you very much. And God.... He loves you so much more. Soon, very soon, we will all be dancing to your victory song.

Call upon the name of the Lord and be saved.

Christian, facing the storm is victory - I'm right there with you. When the storm comes and you're not prepared - it consumes you and therefore you're not able to sing His praise. But even though you can't feel His presence you know He's carrying you - thats faith. You have already overcome. My day has just got better by reading your posting so know that God is with you my friend. Now find some quiet time to read the word and continue to seek His face.

That you are posting this shows you know He will rescue you from your lonliness. Janice said it best - That's faith. It is always hard when we can't feel God's presence (believe me, I know) but those are the times we draw close to Him by reading His word, by seeking His face, by crying out to Him.
