I started a new project last night
another afghan sized so small,
for one that is not here quite yet,
not until summer turns to fall

I watched the pattern as I worked,
each row of shells as it grew,
and just the way it fit together,
reminded me of our love so true

The first row established the pattern,
shells lined up one by one
but when the second row was added
the design of the two became one

Where one row was wide, the other was thin,
all across the row,
filling the space, creating the design,
that needed the two to know.

That is how I see our love,
you fill in everywhere that I lack,
and all that you give from your loving heart,
I receive, but then give it back.

Together we make one lovely pattern,
One designed by God above,
and no matter the colors, the design's the same,
it all whispers gently of our love.

The afghan will wrap up that future baby,
our love wraps us up each day anew,
and every stitch added to the pattern,
tells just how much I LOVE YOU!!
