It is dark. Once there was light. The entire room glowed with it's brilliance, but now--only darkness. Then, a match: in the midst of the darkness, a match is lit. It's bright flame pierces the gloom, illuminating the area. This one tiny match has the power to reveal all that was hidden.

In one corner, there is a row of twelve homemade candles. They are not much to look at, but they will serve their purpose. The match moves close to them and begins to light them. One, two three and so fourth, in order, until all twelve are lit.

Unexpectedly a fierce wind tears through, focusing itself on the match. As the match is extinguished, the twelve candles flicker, and one goes out. It is unusable, and is discarded and replaced. The new candle is set afire with one of the other eleven. The twelve again burn brightly. The light, which each candle had received from the match, melts each outer shell of wax revealing their inner being. Slowly and steadily, it transforms the wick into smoke, releasing it from it's waxen encasement and freeing it from it's bondage.

Other candles are soon discovered. The twelve separate and move among them sharing the all-transforming fire. Eventually the original twelve candles will burn down to nothing, but the light will be passed on from generation to generation. Sometimes the number of candles will seem greatly reduced, but there will always be light. The fire will never go out.


Have you been touched by one of His candles? Does that fire burn within you, transforming your soul? Jesus Christ became the light in our dark, sinful world, but the light must be accepted. Take it! I hold my flame out to you. You never will regret accepting His light and living, on fire, for Him!
