Broken glass
Shattered pieces of what was
Shine with the reflection of hope
And long to be
Gently, lovingly
Put back together

But your broom
Sweeps them into a pile
Diligently finding every one
Every reminder
To quickly, finally
Throw them all away

Did you get them all?
Is every memory of me banished?
Or are there still some small reminders
Of all we’ve been through
shining in some hidden crevice of your existence?

Now stillness falls
But light will shine again
Small shards of recollection
Will reemerge
And eventually, at last
Be gathered up in forgiveness...
