"LORD! LORD? WHERE ARE YOU?
..........Lord?"

"No."

"WHAT? I haven't even asked You,
yet, Lord."

"I know, child."

"What? I wasn't thinking about ANYTHING."

"No, My precious?"

"Well; I mean, I am human, Lord. That's
what we do; we think a lot."

"And Who knows of your thoughts, My beloved?"

"My divorce attorney?"

[UNAMUSED SILENCE.]

"Sorry Lord, I couldn't help it.
That just slipped out."

[MORE SILENCE.]

"Aw, come on, Lord! I said I was
sorry! Aw, come on! I'm human! I guess
if I were a Klingon, I would be more
in control. Hey Lord, did You make
Klingons, too?"

[PATIENCE SILENCE.]
"Who knows your thoughts, daughter."

"Oy. You mean, ALL of them?"

"Yes, child."

"Ech. I can't think about that, Lord.
ECH. That's truly disgusting."

"Read My Word, daughter."

"He....the Lord, knows the thoughts
of man,
that they are but a breath.
[Psalm 94:11]

Yeah, I guess SO, Lord.
Yikes. I don't really like to
think about THAT."

"I made you, child."

"That's pretty humbling, Lord.
But....so what do You think:
should I get a tattoo for my
next birthday?"

"Why, My daughter?"

"Well, I just thought....You know;
lots of folks have them. And,
I guess I thought it might make
me feel, You know: more tough."

"I see, daughter."

[Sigh.]
"Lord, I'm just a weeny.
Everybody knows that.
And, the last few years have
been - well, pretty brutal.
I thought, maybe, I deserved
a tattoo, or two."
[Chuckle.]

"Who is tough for you, child?"

"You are, Lord?"

[NOD.]

"But Lord, wouldn't it be kinda'
funky for a lady MY age to
get her first tattoo?"

"No."

"Aw, come on, Lord! It
wouldn't be of anything
bad: maybe, a little kitty,
or something."

"Good night, child."

"Hey, Lord? Have You
decided what to do about that
asteroid, yet?"

"Good night, precious."

"'Night!"
