When Enoch had lived sixty-five years, he became
the father of Methuselah.
Enoch walked with God after the birth of Methuselah
three hundred years,
and had other sons and daughters.....
all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.
Enoch walked with God;
and he was not,
for God took him.
[Genesis 5:21-25]

"Hey, Lord?"

"What."

"Lord, You already sound cranky.
You don't even know what I'm gonna'
say, yet."

"Yes, I do."

"Aw, come on! I thought we were gonna'
try to get along better, Lord."

"With Whom are you chatting, sweet child?"

"The Maker of Pumpkin, the bad kitty who
sprays on my washing machine?"

"Yes, child. Now, what is your question."

"How come Enoch didn't get to die?"

"Cuz'. I said so."

"Well, what kind'a answer is THAT?"

"MY answer."

"Well, how come he got to just walk into Heaven?
Why was HE so great, huh?"

"He was a righteous man, who walked with His Lord."

"I didn't know he was the father of Methuselah.
Wasn't Methuselah that lady with all the snakes in her
hair?"

"Oy vey."

"Well? Wasn't SHE? Huh, Lord?"

"Child, continue to read My Word."

"Oh, is the Methuselah snake story in Genesis, too?"

"There is a snake story, child.
And, there is a Methuselah story."

"Okay, Lord. I believe You."

[NOD.]

"But, what about Enoch, Lord? How come
he was just taken to Heaven, with no death moment?
Why was he so great, huh?"

"He was not great, child. He walked with His Lord,
and was a righteous child of Mine."

"Well? What about ME. I walk with You, even with
my bad foot, Lord. And, I didn't give You any kids
with snakes in their hair."

"Continue to walk with Me, child."

"I'll try, Lord. But, I still don't understand
what made Enoch so great. I bet I have a
better personality that he did, Lord. I bet
I have a much better sense of humor, Lord."

"You are not in competition for Me, child.
You are My precious daughter, and I love you."

"I love You, too, Lord."

(SILENCE.)

"Lord, did Enoch have snakes in his hair, too?
I mean, was it like, genetic, or sometin'?"

"Oy, child! I am not Greek mythology, beloved."

"I just thought maybe he lived so long,
cuz' the of all the snakes. Were they
poisonous, or of the green garden variety?"

[SMILE.]

"Did Enoch go up to Heaven in a chariot of fire, too, Lord?
Huh, Lord? Well?"

"That is a Mystery, child."

"Hey, Lord? Have You decided what to do, about
the asteroid? Are Ya' gonna' take it off in a chariot of
fire, too?"

"Maybe, child."

"Well, let me know when You're going to do it, okay, Lord?
I really want to see it!"

"You may not be on earth, at that time, child."

"Well, even if I'm in Heaven, can't I see it, anyhow?

"We'll see, child. We'll see."

Behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire
separated by the two of them.
And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into Heaven.
And Elisha saw it, and he cried, "My father,
my father! the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!
And he saw him no more.
