The Last Full Measure

Blue to Gold means tragedy
Pain in a parent’s heart
Grief untold in flag’s 13 folds
One from them did depart

Strength is found in honor
Determined to keep memory alive
These mothers in grief will serve
Soldiers’ children, parents, wives

We honor their loved one’s sacrifice
For us, the last full measure made
Our prayers are with them all
As a tearful “farewell” is bade

When you see this precious flag
With a gold star on display
Say a prayer for the family who
Sacrificed for your freedom today.
