Faith

Greetings, and welcome back to our study on Hebrews! I hope everyone had a wonderful Hanukkah and Christmas. We only have a few more chapters to go! We are on 11 right now, but i chose one in chapter 13 for next week, because it really spoke to me, but will get back to 12 the last week or so(confused yet?) lol. I will be honest in saying that I am not sure what to say about this weeks verse but we'll just let the holy spirit speak and teach us all.
"And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him."

Hebrews 11:6

I sort of feel like a hypocrite writing this weeks verse, only because my faith has been waivering lately, bassed on the current situation. I keep telling God I trust, then my heart begins to fear, again. We are entering into a new year, and I know everyone has a resolution or two....most resolutions involve doing something, making an effort to read the bible daily(thats mine!!), and trying to get things done on time, all lovely ideas, ideas that will please God. Let me challenge you all (and myself as well) to make the resolution of consecration. When we submit things to God, we truly please Him. Like any father, our Father in Heaven is pleased when we trust Him. And the good news is-you dont even have to do anything, just leave it all to God! Sure, we should do things when God says to, but I truly believe, and I am sure most of you can agree, that we as people try too hard to DO, sometimes. Instead of just trust and let God be God. Its easier to take matters into our own hands than wait and wait, but the problem is, our ways are not His ways and when we do things our own way, we miss out on the blessings that God had for us. There may be temporary satisfaction, but no divine perfection. God wants HIS best for us, not our attempts.
I have 2 favourite bible stories, one is Matthew 8:23-27 and the other is Acts 16:16-34. Thats the one when Paul and Silas praise God in prison and the prison gaurd gets saved and they are all free, but the one I want to talk about now is Matthew 8, when Jesus calms the storm! We all know the story, so what I want to say is that all the disciples saw was a raging storm. Jesus saw the end of it, actually he caused the end of it, lol. Sometimes in life, all we see is a lot of raging tide and lightening and hear a lot of thunder, and we are afraid. God understands that we are afraid, its natural, but when we know Jesus and His almighty Father God, we also know the outcome, or at least that it will all work out. Jesus can calm any storm that we go through.....all we need is the faith to believe that. And in order to get that faith, all we need to do is spend time with our Heavenly Father, the calmer of every storm, the healer of every heart, the Giver of faith.
I asked the Lord a few weeks ago-"how do I get through these trials I am facing?" His answer-"Hold onto me with everything you have..." We are safe when we trust in our Father and His son, Jesus.....no matter what happens. ANd the more we abide in them, the more our faith will increase.

DEAR HEAVENLY FATHER-Lord, thank you that we can trust in you, and turn to you in all things. Please increase our faith in this new year. Renew the faith that we may have lost, due to our circumstances, or the lies of the enemy. Renew our hearts to trust you more, help us draw near to you, as you show us your ways, and reassure our hearts.
