"Lord?"

"Yes, child."

"Can I bother You, for a second?"

"No, you can't have another cat."

"No! No, of course not. I would never
think of such a thing."

"Oh? What is this, about being an angel, again?"

"Oh, no! I'm over that. I think it's all those robes;
you know, with my hot flashes and all. Particularly,
if I'd have to wear armor, like Michael. Forget about it."

"Michael doesn't need armor. He has Me."

"Well, still, I just don't think Heaven would be able
to handle my singing. They might think one of their
trumpets had just gotten a big crack in it."

"All of My children's voices are beautiful in prayer."

"Well, okay. But, all that flitting about would get to
me; You know, what with my motion sickness and all.
Not that I'm kvetching, or anything!"

"You wouldn't dream of it, My precious one. I know you."

"I love Your sense of humor, Lord!"

"So, what is it now? This isn't about My Wrath,
in Jeremiah, again, is it?"

"Well, now that You mention it.......what about this
part:
"Why do you provoke Me to anger with the works
of your hands...that you may become a curse,
and a taunt among all the nations of the earth?
.....Therefore....behold, I will set My face against
you for evil...to cut off all Judah....by the sword
and by famine they shall be consumed....."
[Jeremiah 44:8-11]

"What about it, child?"

"Well, it's.....it's very wrathful, that's all.
I feel sorry for all of those people!"

"As so, you should."

"I never would have done any of those rebellious
things, Lord; besides, incense makes me sneeze."

"Good."

"And, then, there's that part about the women
making cakes in the shapes of idols
[Jeremiah 44:19]; I don't bake,
so I'd be clear of all that business."

"Ah, yes."

"Well, Lord, I've just been perplexed about
this new trend in Christian thought...."

"And, which is that, beloved?"

"Well, this Christmastime, all I've heard
in church, and on the radio, is:
'Stop thinking about Jesus as the Baby
in the manger!'
I don't understand it. It's such a beautiful
time of year. Why are folks saying that?"

"Why, child?"

"Well, it's because they want the world
to think of Jesus as our Judging King - and
not as the mild Infant sleeping peacefully."

"And, what do you think, daughter?"

"Well, I can understand what they mean.
But, this was the first Christmas that I
really knew who Jesus was - and, all that
commotion sort of put a damper on it,
for me."

"Don't let it, child. Don't allow your
faith to be shaken."

"Not even for a moment?"

"No child, not for a heartbeat. In Whose
Hand is your heart and very breath, child?"

"Yours, Lord. My heart and
very breath is in Your Hand, Lord."

"Now, continue with your reading of
My Word, daughter."

"Yes, Lord. I will. Oh, and Lord?"

"Yes, my child?"

"Will I be able to have all my cats with me,
in Heaven?"

"Good night, My beloved."

"Good night, Father!"
