Watching
"And it came to pass as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him". Luke 14:1
There are as many different ways to watch Jesus Christ as there are hearts that do the watching. Some watch him out of curiousity, asking who is he really and never quite go beyond that initial glance. Others watch him lovingly, attentive to his every word, exalting him with their worship and adoration. Those who are critically analytic watch him in disbelief because what he says and does will not fall into the neat little compartments that they have constructed for him.
The Pharisees watched him for a specific reason; to fine fault with him (John 8:6), to catch him in his words. They did not know what to do with such directness and truthfulness.
If we watch him with eyes of faith, with open hearts and open minds, Jesus Christ will be revealed to us and there will be no doubt as to who he is.
