I have good news for you and any one who reads this. God is a Good God. How is that for Good News?!

"Well what does that have to do with the verse you chose to read from, Gabriel?" you may ask.

This verse from Proverbs 14:12 points it's finger at something that for many of us is a hard fact to face. It's hard because we believe that we have made ourselves. We have worked hard, sweated and toiled. We have built up and torn down so as to create our lives. We are, at least, just like the first part of the verse. "There is a way that seems right unto a man…"

"But I've gotten this far." You may say. "I haven't died. And so far when I see a way that is right I chose it…how can it produce death?"

It really is quite simple, friend. When you or I place our confidence on the things we can do with our flesh (in other words: in our carnal bodies, and with our own physical, and mental abilities) we are putting our confidence in a fallible system. This may sound very religious to you and you may be fighting the urges to stop reading but hear me out.

God doesn't want His people (much less His kids) to fail. His desire is that you be a success just like it's you desire for your children to be a success. It brings glory and honor to you like your success brings glory and honor to God.

In Jeremiah 17:5-8 God warns us that it is foolish; in fact it says a person is cursed, to trust in what a man can do. That is what the writer of Proverbs is saying in a nutshell. The only way that our paths will be truly prospered is to include God in our plans and trust in Him. Any path may seem prosperous for a while. It may last for years, but the truth is that if the plan is not based on God, but on our strengths, and abilities…it will fail.

So base your plans on God, use your strengths and abilities as He would guide you and reach your full potential!
