Isaiah 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You; because he trusts in You.

As I walk through life I can’t help but remember Peter as he took that first step out of the boat as he walked toward Jesus on the water. Peter had asked and received the command to walk to His savior and he did it above the natural ways of man.

How much different is it today as we are surrounded by those who would take away the seed planted as soon as it is sown? We are surrounded by our enemy the devil who like the waves against the lighthouse never cease to threaten its destruction as it continues to stand against their size and vehemence.

But as Peter took that first step, and walked on the water toward his Savior his eyes were steadfast on Jesus. He trusted in the word Jesus had given him. “Come” I’m sure he weighed the source of the command and made a decision of faith that allowed him to do the supernatural. And as long as his mind was steadfast on Jesus he continued to walk above his circumstances. But as soon as he took his eyes off of Him and focused on the wind and the waves Peter began to sink.

No longer was he in peace. No longer was he trusting in Jesus’ command. His eyes were on his circumstances and on his experience as a fisherman that said “You can’t walk on water!”

In the natural no one can walk on water (unless it’s ice). His experience wasn’t telling a lie, he wasn’t seeing a falsehood. The devil wasn’t trying to trick him. And so when we see our circumstances and they are telling us that “You can’t pay the bills.” Or “That sickness will eventually kill you.” Or “you will suffer those emotional scars for the rest of your life.” They are only reflecting what is natural, like a mirror reflects what is before it.

But in Christ our life is supernatural. When His Word says (1Peter 2:24)that He bore our sickness and disease and by His stripes we were healed, or (Rom 10:13)he who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved, or (Phil 4:13) you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you, or (1 John 4:4) greater is He who is in you than he who is in the World, or (Luke 6:38)give and you shall receive pressed down shaken together and running over, or (John 10:10) I have come that you may have life and have it to the full ‘til it overflows…then you are hearing Christ call to you on the boat. “Come, walk with me in the supernatural. Let’s walk above the circumstances.”

It isn’t natural. Walking in Christ is supernatural. Come let’s walk with Him.
