I lie under Your shadow,
As I fail to find You;
A rawness lies in my being’s midst,
As joy eludes me,
And as Your strength evades me;

A hollow coldness fills me;
It is a taunting rage
That mocks me;

When will Your deliverance come,
With the promise You hold for me?

The Light is gone,
Yet its absence is evidence
Of its existence;
My dryness shows me
My spirit was once was once drenched
With You;

I miss Your kiss o’ grace on my brow;
My head yearns to lie
Upon Your breast
And hear the beat of the Divine;
Send Your presence
And deliver me;

Make Yourself my new song again,
With Your mercy as my glad undoing;
Your love as my joyful unbinding;
Renew my eyes
And gladden my heart;

Set me on a new path,
As I wait for You.
