Surely By Now He Stinks!

Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. John 11:39

Have you ever pointed out the obvious to God? Has He ever told you to do something and you quickly explained why it wouldn't be a good idea?

For some reason we've developed the idea that we know better than the Almighty God. Okay, well maybe I am the only person that has ever explained to God all the reasons why I just couldn't do what He was asking!

Jesus tells Martha to remove the stone from her brother’s grave and she quickly points out that he's been dead four days and by now I'm sure he stinks!

We may have wondered why Martha would even question what Jesus is saying to her, but the harsh reality is if we are honest, we've all been guilty of this very thing.

Perhaps we've given up or lost all hope that someone will recover from an addiction, and even when we hear words of hope we point out the obvious - THEY STINK! The situation stinks! It smells of death! Too much time has gone by!

Let's be careful not to point out the obvious to God and keep in mind that He works in ways that are beyond our imagination! He speaks life into dead situations!

Something to ponder: Has God given you direction for your life and you have pointed out the facts rather than rolling away the stone?

Almighty God how awesome it is to serve a living God - a God that cannot be found in the tombs!

Lord, please forgive us for any doubt we have in our heart. Forgive us Father for expecting you to work within our limitations!

Lord, we've been like Martha on so many occasions! Forgive us! We want to BELIEVE! We want to move the stone when you speak! We want to step out in faith believing! We don't want to be point out all of the reasons why your ways or ideas won't work!

WE WANT TO WALK WITH YOU AND BELIEVE YOU! WE WANT TO TRUST YOU IN EVERY AREA OF MY LIFE!
