If It Had Not Been For The Lord

Psalms 124:2

If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

I shudder to think where I would be today if I hadn’t had God looking out for me?
I tremble at the thoughts of what might have happened to my children if God hadn’t been watching out!

So many occasions when my life was shattered, when my plans had failed and when all hopes seemed lost – God still had a plan and never gave up! As bad as things may have seemed at the time, I hesitate to think what might have happened if God had said, ‘I’m outta’ here!’

The comfort in knowing we serve a Living God! We serve a God that is concerned and pays close attention to the details! He leaves nothing undone! He completes what He starts! He is unlike the gods of the world that promise peace and offer nothing more than momentary gratification.

If you’re like me, you understand the difficulties of life. You’ve walked a painful road. Fear has been your shadow and uncertainty has caused you to waiver, but I have good news today! The Lord is on our side! Every promise in His Word is for you today!

But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication, which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17 AMP )

There have been many times when I look back and realize that had it not been for the Lord I wouldn’t be here today! Can you relate?

Going forward, knowing that God is on our side, we can find peace and comfort in scripture – peace, righteousness, security and triumphing over opposition is our heritage!

Lord Jehovah we proclaim as David did: If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us: Lord we recognize that if it hadn’t been for you we would have been out long time ago. Thank You for Your mercy and Your love – thank You for being on our side! Thank You for not giving up!

Lord, there are many today who are facing opposition! It seems that every corner they turn something new arises! There was a time when they held onto Your promises with tenacity, but life has started to weigh them down. It is for these today that we seek You! We know personally what it is like to wonder if You have walked away – we know what it is like to pray and feel as if the heavens are made of brass. Lord, reach deep into their lives today and let them know that You have not forgotten where they are! Let them know the promise that was given in days past – is still true today!

We love you Father and we thank You for Your love!
In Your name we pray, AMEN!
