God gave us a treasure chest and has put in many treasures for each of us. We can use those treasures for ourselves (as did the prodigal son) or we can use those treasures to build the Kingdom of God. Whatever treasures we use to build up the Kingdom of God, will be waiting for us in Heaven. Whatever we do not use for God’s glory, but spend here, will not be saved, when we are saved.

The parable of the prodigal son says it clearly. The son who stayed with his father to do good works for him was rewarded with treasure that would remain with him always and the prodical son was welcomed home with Love and rejoicing, but his treasures were gone and not replaced.

If Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior then you will go to Heaven, but what awaits you in Heaven will depend on how you treat the gifts that God has given you. Whenever you serve God and bring glory to His Name, you build up your treasures. Whenever you are selfish, you spend your treasures.

Works won’t get you into Heaven, but they will add to your treasures in Heaven. The treasures in Heaven are the ones you will keep for eternity.

Good stewards work hard for God and their work will be rewarded in the only place that matters, in Heaven with God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.

So once you are saved, what treasures do you want waiting for you in Heaven?
